Daly Defeats Tiger in Beer Drinking Competition, 8 and 7

By Rusty Weiss

As Tiger Woods continues his domination of seemingly every golf tournament he enters, signs of vulnerability off the course have crept into his repertoire.  Never has this been more apparent than at a recent impromptu Accenture Beer Chugging Championship in Marana, Arizona.

After conquering Stewart Cink to capture the WGC Match Play title earlier in the day, Woods headed off to the 19th hole in a celebratory mood, carrying with him his usual overwhelming confidence.

Despite conquering the links by dominating tournament after tournament, five straight along with 63 career victories, Woods was no match for a well trained John Daly at the keg.  Golf may not be very fair right now the way Tiger is playing, but the bar is certainly a different story.  This is Daly country.  And the big man made short work of Woods.

“I had to concede after about twenty minutes,” Woods said.  “I mean, I barely had half a Corona in me when I saw big John set down his 8th pint of Sam Adams Utopia.  The guy’s a machine.”

Daly offered some insight into his stunning victory when he spoke to reporters.

“Bah,” he said, shuffling off to the men’s room.

Daly has also defeated Tiger in the World Chain-Smoking Championship, and World Over-Eating Championship earlier in the year.  At that time, Daly summarized his success in laymen’s terms.

“Look at me,” he observed.  “I’m not exactly a health nut.  Of course I’m going to dominate the gluttony tournaments.”
